# AI employees in SmallForce

An AI employee is a continuing worker inside your organization, not a disposable chat prompt. You can give an employee a role, operating instructions, business context, and access to the tools required for its work.

## What an employee can use

Depending on what your organization has enabled, an employee can:

- Search and read files in the organization workspace.
- Work on websites and generated applications.
- Use connected external applications.
- Generate and manage media assets.
- Operate social publishing, inbox, reviews, and analytics.
- Work with advertising campaigns and leads.
- Run approved web and social scrapers.
- Continue work from supported apps and communication channels.

## Give durable instructions

Describe responsibility and decision boundaries, not only personality. A useful instruction answers:

- What outcomes does this employee own?
- Which organization or client does it represent?
- Which source material should it trust?
- What requires confirmation before execution?
- How should it communicate progress and final results?

Keep changing campaign details, temporary deadlines, and one-off requests in the conversation or project files. Keep durable operating rules in the employee’s instructions.

## Conversations and context

Start a new conversation when beginning unrelated work. Continue an existing conversation when the employee needs the decisions and progress from that thread. Slack threads and Telegram topics provide channel-specific ways to keep work organized without exposing technical session details.

For business facts, add the relevant source files to the [workspace](/docs/workspace/overview) so the employee can search the source instead of relying on a remembered paraphrase.
